As announced earlier this year, Bradley Cooper is set to headline the period spy thriller Dark Invasion for Warner Bros., based on Howard Blum's upcoming book about the infiltration of the United States by German spies in 1915. Now, The Wrap reports that "Sons of Anarchy" star Taylor Sheridan has signed on to adapt the screenplay.
Blum's novel explores the various ways that the Kaiser and his Secret Service tried to prevent America from entering World War I to help the Allies using a variety of means including sabotaging ships, bombing factories and the U.S. Capitol Building. Cooper will play the New York police captain Tom Tunney who puts together the team to put a stop to the German spy activities, making him akin to the first head of homeland security.
As a screenwriter, Sheridan is known for his 2012 "Black List" project and for the upcoming television project "Olympus".
Cooper will co-produce Dark Invasion with Adam Kassan and John Lesher for Le Grisbi.
