Walt Disney Pictures' Oz The Great and Powerful brought new life to a slow 2013 box office so far, earning an estimated $80.3 million domestically and $69.9 million internationally for a worldwide total of $150.2 million. The Sam Raimi-directed film marks the third-biggest domestic March release ever, trailing only the debuts of The Hunger Games ($152.5 million) and Alice in Wonderland ($116.1 million).

Starring James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff and Joey King, the $215 million fantasy adventure was released in 3,912 theaters in North America where it averaged $20,251. It's also playing in 46 international territories representing about 81% of the market. The global IMAX weekend gross for Oz The Great and Powerful is an estimated $12.2 million from 442 screens, which is second-best for a March opening (following Alice in Wonderland).

Bryan Singer's Jack the Giant Slayer dropped to second place and 63% in ticket sales with $10 million. Having cost $195 million to make, the Warner Bros. release has reached just $43.8 million after two weeks in North America.

Universal comedy Identity Thief continued to perform well in its fifth weekend in third place, taking in an additional $6.3 million to push its total to $116.5 million. Starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, the R-rated movie costs only $35 million to make.

FilmDistrict's Dead Man Down opened in fourth place with $5.4 million from 2,188 theaters. Directed by Niels Arden Oplev, the thriller stars Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace.

Summit's Snitch, starring Dwayne Johnson, rounded out the top five with $5.1 million and $31.9 million total after three weeks, but it was followed closely by 21 and Over in sixth place with $5.06 million and $16.8 million total after two weeks.
