August 19, 2008
ComingSoon.net has your exclusive first look at a new clip, featuring Quentin Tarantino, from Sukiyaki Western Django, opening on August 29.
Famed Japanese auteur Takashi Miike, best known for cult classics Audition, Ichi the Killer and The City of Lost Souls, redefines the spaghetti Western with Sukiyaki Western Django, a tale written in blood. Two clans, Genji, the white clan led by Yoshitsune, and Heike, the red clan led by Kiyomori, battle for a legendary treasure hidden in a desolate mountain town. One day, a lone gunman, burdened with deep emotional scars but blessed with incredible shooting skills, drifts into town. Two clans try to woo the lone gunman to their sides, but he has ulterior motives. Dirty tricks, betrayal, desire and love collide as the situation erupts into a final, explosive showdown.

tarantino should stick with directing, his acting is worse than keanu reeves.

I personally like Tarantino's acting. Yes, he's not gonna ever win any oscars doing it, but he's just so fun to watch. His presence is enjoyable, if nothing else. But, I realize that nobody's gonna agree with me.

hey let the guy have some fun.

the bad acting, dialogue, and stunts are intentional. And it actually works, I like it.

Why is Tarantino acting? As if his plotless dialogue isn't bad enough, he has to grace us all with his half moon shaped face like Kinski from Clive Barkers Nightbreed?

Tarantino has always been a fan of Leone/Eastwood westerns and now seeing him trying to pull off something remotely similar just comes out sideways and seems a little obvious and naive.

This is really Fistful of Dollars plot. But the update works for me. I'm excited.

Quentin Tarantino is very good, but this is crap!!
he cannot act he must direct movies!!!

Tarantino isn't that bad of an actor at all - especially since he only plays small rolls in moives. I do think he is 10X better at writing and directing though.
As for the clip...Eh it was ok. Need to see more before I decide if I'd see the movie or not.
Can't wait for Inglorious Bastards!

Actually Dashiell Hammett's Red Harvest came first fella's. And for the record - Tarantino as casting has worked exactly twice: Res Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Everything else is on par with DESTINY TURNS ON THE RADIO

I saw this movie a year ago when it was first released in Japan. It's not a bad movie, but since all the actors are Japanese (minus the 5 minutes of Quentin Tarantino's onscreen time), it's sometimes a bit difficult to understand their English. Katori Shingo dies right at the beginning so we don't have to put up with his bad acting for very long. There is an awesome older woman with a wicked backpiece tattoo and some fun shootouts.

I absolutely agree with you p@. He's a good enough director that it doesn't even matter how bad of an actor he really is, and I think it's fun seeing him in his movies..he's totally earned the right to do some acting and have fun with it.

Idiots...
Django was originally an Italian movie made in the 60s with Franco Nero. It has spawned dozens of unofficial sequels, and although shares similar themes to Fistful of Dollars, is its own movie and series.

Blondie, I am glad someone finally brought up Django, where this movie comes from. But it isn't a complete remake. The story line was completely changed. It is more of a spoof (for a lack of better words) on the Spaghetti Westerns, which started in Italy (hence the name). But this movie was enjoyable. The action was good, cinematography was great. Good use of reversal film. I believe the "bad" acting was deliberate.

Fire 79 is a moron. READ The damn synopsis before you accuse ppl of stealing things. It says "Famed Japanese auteur Takashi Miike" does he sound American to you? Dumb azz

RED HARVEST, the Dashiell Hammett novel, came first, and it was adapted by Kurosawa for YOJIMBO, which was remade by Sergio Leone as A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS, which was again remade as LAST MAN STANDING.
They got it right the 1st 3 times.

first off, americans don't steal japaness ideas. get over it. they re-adapt so americans will actually WATCH them. and anyway, everybody takes
others ideas. where else do you think that fake ass over used complaint came from? people who care? Not. though if you really want to start something, answer me this, did you know that the idea of the first animes out there came from the ideas and art styles of american cartoons? it true, so BAM *****! P.S. this movie looks like ****.
