The Hobbit Films to Shoot for 370 Days

November 29, 2008

BilboHobbit.com has posted a transcript of Hellboy II: The Golden Army director Guillermo del Toro's recent chat on BD Live, concentrating on the questions asked about the two "Hobbit" films. Here's a few:

Q:There any professionals who worked with you on Hellboy II that will be joining you on the Hobbit?
A:Hopefully Mignola, Barlowe, Spectral Motion, Guillermo Navarro and others…

Q:Will there be any cool creatures in Hobbit like Hellboy 2?
A:many many more and we will be pushing the goblin kindgom. we will be pushing smaug, the spiders of mirkwood. we will be pushing them to the edge of technology where we will fuse animatronics and cgi into a seamless new art form in creating creatures, i think.

Q:When does filming for The Hobbit begin?
A:it will begin in 2010 and we will shoot for about 370 days or so…

New Line/Warner Bros. is planning a December, 2011 release for The Hobbit and a December, 2012 release for its sequel.

It's going to be fantastic. More suited to his talents than the trilogy, with more of a classic fairy tale tone to it. He's going to knock it out of the park.

I hate all of you down talkers with a passion! There is so much negativity around you that by the time a given project is released, your expectations keep you from enjoying the project in it's true form no matter how good or bad it is. Why don't you all just wait until the project is released before passing judgement on it.

Thats less than i expected and i'd also like to add that i completely trust Del Toro to make a fantastic film and i hope Peter Jackson has the right mind to step back and let him do what he wants. Del Toro is a great filmmaker and one of my favorites.
