Ever since
Disney Infinity was initially announced, fans have wondered how long it would take before the Marvel and Lucasfilm properties would show up in the game. Even the developers were anxious to get their hands on those characters as they expressed interest to ComingSoon.net at last year's E3. Now it seems those wishes will be coming true.

The Wall Street Journal (via Bleeding Cool) reports that their source claims "New versions of Infinity featuring characters from Disney’s Marvel superhero unit and the Star Wars universe it acquired along with Lucasfilm in 2012 are being developed."

It's unclear if the "new version of Infinity" is simply an expansion of last year's title or if it will take the form of a sequel. Check back here for official word on this announcement as we learn it. What "Star Wars" and Marvel characters do you want to see in Disney Infinity?

In Disney Infinity, you have the freedom and endless opportunity to create stories and play experiences starring some of your favorite Disney and Disney/Pixar characters including the casts of Pirates of the Caribbean, The Incredibles, Monsters University, Cars, Toy Story, The Lone Ranger, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and many more! Available for the Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo 3DS, PS Vita, and PC, Disney Infinity has gone on to sell more than 3 million copies worldwide since its 2013 debut.
