The following is the official description of the film:
"Experience the film that captured the hearts of critics and fans around the world in a breathtaking new way. 'Monsters, Inc.' is visually dazzling, action-packed and hilarious, raves the Boston Herald. And now, with eye-popping, crystal-clear visuals and theater-quality sound, it's even better on Disney Blu-ray Hi-Def! Lovable Sulley (John Goodman) and his wisecracking sidekick Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) are the top scare team at Monsters, Inc., the scream-processing factory in Monstropolis. When a little girl named Boo wanders into their world, it's the monsters who are scared silly, and it's up to Sulley and Mike to keep her out of sight and get her back home. Open the door to a fantastic world of fun and imagination that will have you screaming for more. Featuring never-before-seen bonus features, the original DVD and a DisneyFile Digital Copy of the movie, 'Monsters, Inc.' is a sensational new experience on Disney Blu-ray."
"Monsters Inc." is rated G.
We already know that "Monsters Inc." is a great film. There's no question about that. We also know that Blu-ray is the best possible way to watch the film and it looks better than ever in this format. I guess the real question is whether or not it's worth ditching your old DVD for this new Blu-ray. I think I'd have to say yes.
Not only do you have your superior Blu-ray quality, but this set also includes the original DVD and a disc with a digital copy of the film for your portable devices. I've had my life saved many times by entertaining my 4 year old with a copy of a Pixar film on an iPod. That alone makes it worth the price of a new purchase. (Note these digital copies are only good for about 18 months!)
There are three new bonus features included on this Blu-Ray. The first is a look at the "Monsters, Inc." ride at Tokyo Disneyland. You get a ride through Monstropolis as you play flashlight tag with monsters hidden throughout the city. It looks like a lot of fun. The second new bonus feature is a roundtable with the creators of "Monsters Inc." They discuss the development of the idea for the film, the multiple designs of the characters, the voice work by Crystal and Goodman, and the impact 9/11 had on the release of the film. It's all very interesting. The remaining new bonus feature is a 100 question challenge where you try to win a job at "Monsters, Inc." Some of the questions are extremely easy. Others are quite hard. My kids and I attempted it together and actually got quite stumped on some of the challenges. It's fun (and possibly frustration) for the whole family.
So I'd recommend adding "Up" and "Monsters, Inc." to your Blu-ray collections. You'll be glad you did!
