Synopsis:
The following is from the DVD description:

"'Jericho' is a drama about what happens when a nuclear mushroom cloud suddenly appears on the horizon, plunging the residents of a small, peaceful Kansas town into chaos, leaving them completely isolated and wondering if they're the only Americans left alive. But in this time of crisis, as sensible people become paranoid, personal agendas take over and well-kept secrets threaten to be revealed, some people will find an inner strength they never knew they had and the most unlikely heroes will emerge."

"Jericho" is not rated.

Mini-Review:
I never got a chance to watch "Jericho" when it first aired, so I was interested to see what the hype was about when it arrived on DVD. (Funnily enough, it arrived with a bag of peanuts in honor of the fans that protested its cancellation.) If I had to describe "Jericho" to someone who had never seen it before, I'd call it "Red Dawn Light." Instead of fighting the Commies, the small town folks battle each other, neighboring towns, and other threats. And rather than being a fast paced action flick, this is a rather leisurely paced character drama. I've always enjoyed post-apocalyptic adventures, so this was right up my alley. The series has a solid cast and a good premise. My only gripe about the show is the pacing. Things take a bit long to develop for my tastes. This story almost would have been better as a faster paced mini-series.

I certainly understand why fans were upset about the cancellation of the series. After all, the final episode ended on a big time cliffhanger. And, arguably, the show was finally picking up steam as that last episode hit. Fortunately, their protests were heard.

If you like Skeet Ulrich, "Red Dawn," or post-apocalyptic dramas, this is a series you'll want to give a shot.

The DVD has your standard offering of bonus features. You'll find deleted scenes and commentaries along with a 'making of' featurette. They discuss the idea for the series, casting, and other such goodies. (No talk of the cancellation drama, though.) Finally, "What If" discusses the Cold War, the arms race, and how people might survive a nuclear attack.
