The following is from the DVD cover:
"It was supposed to be the perfect weekend away… until they invited a bloodthirsty party crasher! Kim (Dominique Swain) and her college friends meet at a cabin in the woods to relax, reminisce and have a little fun. But when a ghoulish game summons the vengeful spirit of 'Dead Mary,' friend turns against friend in the ultimate blood-soaked battle for survival!"
"Dead Mary" is a pretty weak offering to the horror genre. It's the kind of film where every character is so annoying that you're rooting for them to all be killed off because they're so stupid. Nothing they do makes sense and the script takes improbable twists and turns that simply don't fit. It doesn't help matters that nothing really scary happens until about an hour into the movie (and 'scary' is really a subjective term).
The DVD cover makes it look like there's a lot of monster action going on, but that's not the case. This movie is quite low budget and the only 'monster' is one of the women with vampire teeth. There is a little gore later on, but nothing that should qualify it as 'unrated'. And why is it called "Dead Mary"? Was "Bloody Mary" already taken?
I'd really recommend that everyone pass on "Dead Mary." It's not very scary and there's going to be very little here to satisfy horror fans.
There are only two bonus features on this DVD. One is a half-hour long 'making of' featurette that contains interviews with the cast and crew. Another is a music video for the closing song.
