The following is from the DVD cover:
"Inspired by his childhood experiences in New York, popular comedian Chris Rock narrates the hilarious, touching story of a teenager growing up as the eldest of three children in Brooklyn during the early 1980s. Uprooted to a new neighborhood and bused into a predominantly Italian middle school two hours away by his strict, hard-working parents, Chris (Tyler James Williams) struggles to keep his everyday trials and traumas in check as he thinks, talks or run his way through one growing experience after another, both at home and at school. This debut volume of 'Everyone Hates Chris' on DVD contains all 22 Season One episodes of this acclaimed comedy series."

If "Everybody Hates Chris," count me in with everybody. I personally can't stand Chris Rock. I think he's arrogant, loud, and obnoxious. But that being said, I still loved "Everybody Hates Chris." In the bonus features they describe it as "The Wonder Years with Chris Rock," and that's a pretty good description of the format of the show. The story is set in the 1980's with Chris Rock narrating his fictional childhood experiences. But as far as style and tone, it's more similar to "The Bernie Mac Show" or "Malcolm in the Middle." It is fast paced, funny, and very clever. If you like either of those shows you'll more than likely enjoy "Everybody Hates Chris."
The DVD has a pretty good selection of bonus features. You'll find your standard 'making of' featurettes, bloopers, commentaries, etc. They also give a camera to the kids from the show and let them wander around the set shooting film. There's about an hour of footage to view, so "Everybody Hates Chris" fans should enjoy it.
