The following is from the DVD cover:
"So many Heroes. So much power.
Too much power, some think. From their Watchtower in space, the Justice League - Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and J'onn J'onzz - floats above Earth, with countless new members including Green Arrow, Supergirl and Captain Atom. Their combined powers are awesome. And although these superheroes fight crime, eradicate evil and save the world over and over again, a conspiracy against them is growing. Led by the government, funded by Lex Luthor and fueled by a hidden enemy, Cadmus is born.
The mission: to take down the Justice League. It's 26 episodes of action, intrigue and excitement in a 4-disc collection that any superhero fan should own! Plus, don't miss the shocking Epilogue that reveals the legacy of Batman!"

For the first time, the complete first season of "Justice League Unlimited" is available on DVD. This particular season represents a radical change in the series from the previous two seasons. The cast of superheroes has been increased tenfold including a lot of the more obscure DC superheroes. Even being a die hard comic book fan and a casual DC fan, they managed to include some I had only a passing familiarity with. They added characters like Hawk and Dove, Booster Gold, Captain Atom, Red Tornado, and more. The amazing thing is that they highlight each of these C-Grade heroes and make them quite interesting. They all offer something unique and compelling to the lineup. Fans will also be glad to see more familiar characters like Green Arrow and Aquaman added to the cast.
This season also features a ton of recognizable guest voice cameos. They include Dakota Fanning as Young Wonder Woman, Edward Asner as Hephaestus, Fred Savage as Hawk, Jeremy Piven as The Elongated Man, Tom Everett Scott as Booster Gold, Oded Fehr as Dr. Fate, John C. McGinley as The Atom, Robert Picardo as Amazo, Tim Matheson as Max Lord, J.K. Simmons as General Wade Eiling, Gina Torres as Vixen, Peter MacNicol as Chronos, and Adam Baldwin as Hal Jordan. Series producer Bruce Timm even cameos as Solomon Grundy.
This particular season is also notable for the wide variety of stories told. Some are epic dramas that would be $300 million pictures if they were live action. Others are actually comedies, something not really done before in the series. One episode features all the main heroes being turned into children. Another features Wonder Woman being turned into a pig and Batman actually singing in a nightclub in order to save her. Though definitely a hard sell, the final products actually work and fit into the series perfectly.
If you're a DC fan, this is a required addition to your collection. If you're a comic book fan in general, you'll also find this well worth picking up. Even non-comic fans will find this to be some of the best animation and storytelling on TV.
Unfortunately, this DVD is very light on the bonus features. There's a 'making of' video featuring the creators talking about re-launching the series. There are also commentaries on a couple of the episodes. Rounding out the bonus features is something that allows you to change musical themes with characters. Unfortunately none of the voice actors or cameo actors are included in the commentary.
