The following is from the DVD cover:
"Meet Chico and Guapo, the stars of the new animated series 'The Adventures of Chico and Guapo,' co-created by actor/comedian Orlando Jones and company. Lifelong friends and current interns at record industry oldie-but-not-so-goody Angelo Productions, our heroes try to make it big in the biz, but mostly make a big mess. Steel-fisted but balding record exec Frank C. Angelo, washed-up producer Hank Holiday, feisty receptionista Concepcion and musical genius Cezar are there to remind them of where the came from, and keep them there. In between adventures, Chico and Guapo give the remote a real workout, surfing through daytime cable TV and leaving everyone from politicians to reality stars in their wake. It's packed with exclusive unrated Season One episodes, tons of never-before-seen shorts, animated storyboards, artwork and more. So check it out, "ya lazy animals!""
"The Adventures of Chico and Guapo" is not rated.
I had never heard of "Chico and Guapo" before getting this DVD. If I had to describe it, I'd say it's kind of like "Beavis and Butt-Head" in that there are a couple of idiot cartoon characters, there's a lot of sexual humor, they make fun of TV shows, and the animation is rather rough. In short, it's yet another MTV adult animated show.
If you're a fan of Orlando Jones then you're definitely going to want to check this out. The show is his baby. He produces it, stars in it, and helped create it. "Chico and Guapo" ends up being a bit of a mixed bag. There are elements that are quite funny and clever such as parodies of diva singers, race based humor (such as the NAACP – the National Association for the Advancement of Caucasian People), and jokes about other MTV shows. However, a lot of it isn't terribly original. The sexual humor gets old fast. Once you've seen a couple of episodes, you've seen all they have to offer.
If you're a "Beavis and Butt-Head" fan, an animation fan, or a fan of Orlando Jones, you'll want to check this out. The short skit format of the show also lets you get to watch a lot of the episodes very quickly. However, if you don't fall into those categories, you might want to look elsewhere for your juvenile humor.
A few bonus features are included on the DVD. Sixteen of the original shorts from "The Orlando Jones Show" are included, many of which never aired. You'll also find animated storyboard versions of the episode. A director's cut version of "The Gift" is included, but it's not that much different from the originally aired version. An appearance by Orlando Jones on Total Request Live to promote the show is also included. Rounding out the bonus features are some sketches and original scripts.
