"Experience the complete second season of TV's most compelling show in an expansive 27-episode DVD set. Witness every minute of the thrilling drama that has become a television event for fans and critics alike. "Week after week, the entire show is mcdreamy," raves USA Today. Life gets even more intense for the doctors and interns of Seattle Grace Hospital in year two as Meredith and Derek's relationship goes from odd to downright insane with the arrival of Derek's wife, and Alex lets his Izzie obsession out of the bag. You "can't stop watching," says TV Guide. Experience 'Grey's Anatomy: Season 2 Uncut' -- uncut with over five hours of never-before-seen bonus features, including four extended episodes with scenes too steamy for TV, behind-the-scenes interviews, and so much more."
"Grey's Anatomy: Season 2 Uncut" is rated TV-14.
Ever since "Grey's Anatomy: Season 2 Uncut" arrived on DVD, my wife has been watching disc after disc non-stop. The ComingSoon.net editor even told me a few days ago that he thought it was the best written show on TV. While I appreciate the writing and the characters, I can take it or leave it. There are so many medical dramas on TV now and they're all good, so I have a hard time gravitating towards one or the other. What seems to make "Grey's Anatomy" unique is that it focuses on the soap opera drama between the characters more than the medical emergencies. Viewers seem to get emotionally invested in the characters and follow them from there on out.
From what I've seen of the show (and continue to see as my wife commandeers the remote), "Grey's Anatomy" is sticking with their formula from the first season. The characters all continue to have their sexcapades, there's a medical emergency each week, and the romance between Grey and Shepherd continue to be the central storyline of the show. The second season also featured cameos by Chris O'Donnell, Christina Ricci, Kyle Chandler ("King Kong," "Early Edition"), and others. In short, if you liked the first season, you'll enjoy the second season.
The bonus features on this second season DVD seems to focus more on the secondary characters than the first one did. Kate Walsh and a few of the other cast members answer questions from fans in one featurette. We also see "The Softer Side of Dr. Bailey" in an interview with actress Chandra Wilson. She gets a chance to show that's she's not really like the tough as nails doctor on the show. You'll also find "Creating 'Pink Mist' – Anatomy of a Special Effect". This shows how they blew up a character on their Super Bowl episode in great detail. As an added bonus you'll find an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live featuring Katherine Heigl, Chandra Wilson, and James Pickens Jr. Kimmel actually stages a gag where he pretends to be bit by a snake, ends up in a hospital, and interviews Wilson and Pickens while they're dressed as doctors. Rounding out the bonus features are some commentaries, four extended episodes, deleted scenes, and a tour of the set conducted by James Pickens, Jr.
