Following the critical acclaim of his The Impossible, director Juan Antonio Bayona has signed on to helm an untitled science fiction project at Warner Bros. Variety has the news and, while plot details are few, they report that script arrives from Eric Roth.

Prior to directing The Impossible, Bayona made his feature film debut with 2007's The Orphanage. Roth, meanwhile, is well known for providing the screenplays to films like Forrest Gump and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Kevin McCormick is attached to produce.
