News broke early last year that Lionsgate and WWE have plans to reboot the Leprechaun franchise and, today, CraveOnline caught up with WWE Studios President Michael Luisi to discuss his plans for the new film.

"The tone is going to be a little darker," he told the outlet. "A little more traditional horror than the Warwick Davis ones that people remember. [We're] trying to find a way to please fans of that genre but, at the same time, this is really being played for scares."

WWE star Dylan "Hornswoggle" Postl is attached to play the demonic folklore creature, though Luisi is open to the possibility of finding some way for Davis to cameo as well. Davis starred in the original six-film horror franchise (Leprechaun 1 - 3, Leprechaun 4: In Space, Leprechaun 5: In the Hood and Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood).

Luisi goes on to say that the new film, still in the writing stages, will be a "true reboot" and will not connect with previous mythology of the franchise in any way. You can read the full interview by clicking here.
