In the wake of the scandal surrounding professional bicyclist Lance Armstrong and his confession last night about the use of banned substances, Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot Productions have picked up the rights to a planned book on the situation. Deadline reports that Juliet Macur's upcoming Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong will be the basis for a feature film.

Columbia Pictures was previously planning on an Armstrong biopic based on Armstrong's first book, It's Not About the Bike. The Hunger Games director Gary Ross was adapting the screenplay though, in light of recent events, whether or not the project moves forward is undetermined.

Plans for Cycle of Lies, meanwhile, appear to be nascent and no talent has been announced.
