First announced back in 2011, Legendary Pictures' supernatural thriller Spectral appears to have found a pair of directors in Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg. Deadline reports that the Kon-Tiki pair are eyeing the project following their recent film's Academy Award nomination this morning.

The script, written by Ian Fried, follows a special ops force that has trained in hunting the supernatural. They come up against ghosts that have taken over Manhattan.

Production on Spectral is expected to begin later this year with Kon-Tiki itself set for a domestic theatrical run in March.
