Screenwriter Becky Johnston Boards Salt Sequel

December 10, 2012

Columbia Pictures' upcoming sequel to 2010's Salt has hired screenwriter Becky Johnston for a rewrite, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter.

The original film starred Angelina Jolie as CIA officer Evelyn Salt who, after being accused of being a Russian spy, goes on the run in an attempt to prove her innocence. Jolie is expected to reprise her role for the sequel, though she requested rewrites after the sequel's initial draft was turned in by Kurt Wimmer.

Johnston is best known for her work on films like Under the Cherry Moon, The Prince of Tides and Seven Years in Tibet.
