Chevy Chase Departs Community

As the show prepares to begin its fourth season on February 7, 2013, Deadline reports that actor Chevy Chase is parting ways with "Community." Although he'll appear in most of the upcoming episodes, the character of Pierce Hawthorne will be written out of the show before the end of the season.

Chase, who has rather infamously made public that he's not a fan of the show, openly feuded earlier this year with showrunner and series creator Dan Harmon. Harmon was subsequently removed from his position and replaced by David Guarascio and Moses Port.

Also starring Joel McHale, Donald Glover, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash and Ken Keong, "Community" finished its third season in May. Renewed for an abbreviated 13 episodes, the upcoming season is planned to feature guest stars like Malcolm McDowell (in a recurring role), Matt Lucas and Tricia Helfer.
