ERC Box Office and other sources are reporting that Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, the grand finale to the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's supernatural romance series, scored an estimated $71.2 million in its opening day, including Thursday night previews and midnight screenings which accounted for $30.4 million.

That amount would make it the sixth-highest opening day ever, behind Breaking Dawn - Part 1's $71.6 million and New Moon's $72.7 million, but it doesn't look likely to set a record for the franchise and is currently projected to make roughly $135 million over the three-day weekend. Breaking Dawn - Part 2 has grossed an estimated $162.2 million worldwide through Friday.

Check back tomorrow for the full box office report.
