Deadline is reporting that Paul Greengrass is planning on making his next project the long-rumored Martin Luther King Jr. assassination tale, Memphis.

Based on Greengrass' own research, the film follows the weeks leading up to King's death in 1968 and is said to be cut against the manhunt for James Earl Ray in the wake of the April 4 tragedy.

Greengrass, best known for films like The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum and United 93, will next release Captain Phillips. Set for release on October 11, 2013, that project stars Tom Hanks in the title role of the man who was taken hostage by armed Somali pirates, attempted to escape and was eventually rescued by the U.S. Navy.

Scott Rudin remains aboard Memphis as a producer.
