Michael Fassbender to Narrate Formula One Documentary 1

Michael Fassbender, a long time Formula One enthusiast, has signed on to narrate Exclusive Media’s Spitfire Pictures’ new documentary film 1, it was announced today by the film’s producer and Exclusive Media co-chairman Nigel Sinclair and fellow producer Michael Shevloff together with director Paul Crowder.

“We are honored that Michael has agreed to lend his voice to our film," said Sinclair and Shevloff. "He is one of the most talented actors in the world today as well as being a Formula 1 fan. His charismatic and daring approach to acting lends itself perfectly to our story about a generation of risk takers in a glamorous and dangerous sport. We couldn’t be more excited.”

“Michael Fassbender is a brilliant and fearless actor who will bring all the passion and excitement of our action documentary to life. There is truly no better voice to tell this story,”< said Crowder.

Fassbender recently completed shooting Terrence Malick’s latest and untitled film with Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara and Natalie Portman and will shortly begin production on Jane Got a Gun, also starring Natalie Portman and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Crowder's credits include Spitfire Pictures’ Amazing Journey: The Story of the Who and The Last Play at Shea and ESPN Films’ Once in a Lifetime. As an award winning editor Crowder’s credits include the Sundance Film Festival documentary hits Riding Giants, which Crowder received the A.C.E. award for Best Edited documentary, and Dogtown & Z Boys, winner of the Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary. Both films were released theatrically by Sony Pictures Classics.

1 is written by Mark Monroe, Crowder's long time creative partner, who wrote the Oscar winning documentary The Cove and The Tillman Story.

Sinclair is a noted feature film and documentary filmmaker having won two Grammy’s for the documentary films No Direction Home: Bob Dylan and Foo Fighters: Back and Forth as well as an Emmy Award for Martin Scorsese's acclaimed George Harrison: Living in the Material World.

Produced by Exclusive Media’s documentary feature film label Spitfire Pictures (Academy Award winning Undefeated) with Flat-Out Films and Diamond Docs, 1 is an action documentary that brings the glamour, speed, danger, and excitement of Formula One Grand Prix racing to the big screen. The high octane film includes never-before-seen archive footage, a rich soundtrack and the most impressive list of Formula One interviewees ever assembled, including 12 world champions past and present. Their names include: Sir Jackie Stewart, Mario Andretti, Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel, Emerson Fittipaldi, Nigel Mansell and Damon Hill. Other notable interviewees are F1 Chief, Bernie Ecclestone, Max Mosley, Formula 1™ team doctor Professor Sid Watkins, Jacky Ickx, Eddie Jordan and Martin Brundle.

SXSW Film Festival and The Circuit of The Americas (CoTA), the Austin Grand Prix racing track, have teamed up with producers to present 1 at a Special Presentation event on Thursday November 15th, the first night of the 2012 Formula One United States Grand Prix weekend, at the Paramount Theatre in the center of Austin.
