Although the project is said to only be in the very earliest of stages, Variety is reporting George Clooney is in talks to headline Walt Disney Pictures' upcoming 1952.

Brad Bird (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, The Incredibles, The Iron Giant) is attached to direct the sci-fi tale with Damon Lindelof (Star Trek Into Darkness, Prometheus) providing the screenplay. Details are few and the project is not yet greenlit, but the story is said to revolve around a man making alien contact on Earth.

Clooney last appeared in The Descendants and can soon be seen in Gravity. He's also set to direct and star in the The Monuments Men with a cast that includes Daniel Craig, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Jean Dujardin, John Goodman, Bob Balaban and Hugh Bonneville.
