Hotel Transylvania 2 Planned for 2015

November 9, 2012

Sony Pictures Animation is planning a return trip to Hotel Transylvania. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that an animated sequel has been scheduled for September 25, 2015.

The original film, directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, featured the voice talents of Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade and Jon Lovitz, all of whom are likely (but not yet confirmed) to return. It was released on September 28th of this year and has already pulled in more than $250 million at the worldwide box office.

Tartakovsky will not return for the sequel as he's currently committed to bringing Popeye to the screen instead. That film will hit theaters on September 26, 2014.

The September date puts the Hotel Transylvania sequel up against 20th Century Fox and DreamWorks Animation's B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations.
