Jennifer Garner is in talks to join the cast of the upcoming Jean-Marc Vallee project, The Dallas Buyers Club, Deadline reports. She would appear opposite Matthew McConaughy and Gael Garcia Bernal.

The film tells the true story of Ron Woodroof, a tough Texas electrician who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986 and given six months to live. Frustrated with the lack of available medical options and unwilling to accept a death sentence, Woodroof found a lifeline using alternative drugs and created a lucrative smuggling business that made those drugs available to AIDS patients.

Garner, who recently starred in The Odd Life of Timothy Green, would play Dr. Eve Saks, a part that was once eyed by Hilary Swank.

Filming is set to begin in November in New Orleans with Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack providing the screenplay and Robbie Brenner, Nathan Ross and Rachel Rothman-Winter producing.
