Steven Spielberg Wants Chris Hemsworth for Robopocalypse

Deadline is reporting that Steven Spielberg wants Thor and Marvel's The Avengers star Chris Hemsworth to play the lead in Robopocalypse, the filmmaker's adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson's book.

The site says that there is no offer on the table yet, but the film is scheduled to hit theaters on April 25, 2014. The screenplay was adapted by Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods, Cloverfield, "LOST," "Alias").

The book, about humanity's desperate stand against a robot uprising, is described as follows:

Controlled by a childlike—yet massively powerful—artificial intelligence known as Archos, the global network of machines on which our world has grown dependent suddenly becomes an implacable, deadly foe.
