Olympus Has Fallen Adds Angela Bassett

Angela Bassett has signed on for the action thriller Olympus Has Fallen, Variety reports. She'll play the head of the Secret Service in the action thriller.

Set up at Nu Image/Millennium Films, the Antoine Fuqua film also has Gerard Butler attached to play an ex-Secret Service agent who must defend the White House and the President (Aaron Eckhart) from terrorists.

Written by newcomers Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt, production on Olympus was previously reported to begin in September, but it's being fast-tracked to race against the similarly-themed White House Down, set up at Sony Pictures.

Bassett appeared earlier this year in McG's This Means War.
