The Avengers the Fastest Ever to Reach $400 Million Domestically
Marvel's The Avengers set a new domestic speed record yesterday, May 17th, reaching the $400 million box office threshold in just 14 days. The previous record of 18 days was held by The Dark Knight.Worldwide, "The Avengers" has passed Toy Story 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest to become the #6 highest-grossing film of all time and the highest-grossing Disney release ever. Internationally it is currently the #9 highest-grossing film of all time.
"The Avengers" added $10.6 million internationally and $6.2 million domestically for a Thursday total of $16.8 million. The film has earned $668.7 million overseas and $402 million in North America for a global total of $1.070 billion.
