Comic-Con Video Interview: Kingsman: The Secret Service Creators Mark Millar & Dave Gibbons

One of the definite highlights of Comic-Con Day 2 (not including the preview night) was the 20th Century Fox panel in Hall H and the debut of new footage and clips from Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Secret Service, based on the comic series by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons.

You can read our liveblog of that panel here (just scroll down to the end for stuff about Kingsman) and check out an exclusive photo we debuted here on SuperHeroHype just yesterday.

Earlier in the day, ComingSoon.net had a chance to sit down and chat with Millar and Gibbons, the creators of the original comic, an interview that harked back to five years ago when we spoke with Millar and John Romita Jr. about their comic Kick-Ass, shortly after Matthew Vaughn had debuted the first footage from his adaptation of that comic.

Kingsman: The Secret Service stars Colin Firth as Harry Hart, a British super-spy and agent of the mysterious Kingsman, who sees potential in the young son of a deceased friend, one "Eggsy" Unwin (played by newcomer Taron Egerton), and recruits him to train to become an agent. At the same time, the villainous Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) is planning something quite dastardly, which puts the Kingsman on alert to stop him.

It's a fun interview that covers a lot of ground, including the notable changes from the comic to the movie--Samuel L. Jackson's character was created specifically for the movie and the assassin Gazelle has changed gender and M.O., not to mention the change in relationship between Firth and Egerton's characters. Millar also mentioned that all of his comic properties have now been optioned by various studios and production companies to be turned into movies (or presumably, television shows for some)

Check out the interview in the video player below.

Kingsman: The Secret Service opens nationwide on Friday, October 24.
