Patrick Wilson Exits Marvelís Ant-Man Due to Scheduling Conflict

Deadline brings word this afternoon that actor Patrick Wilson has pulled out of Marvel Studios' upcoming Ant-Man due to a scheduling conflict. In addition, actors†Matt Gerard and Kevin Weisman are no longer involved in the project as well, though the site reports that their characters were written out of the film in the latest batch of rewrites. Hank Pym himself Michael Douglas confirmed two weeks ago that the cast would be appearing at San Diego Comic-Con, so expect the remaining cast members†to pop up during their Hall H panel (tomorrow at 5:30 PM PST!).

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Ant-Man will be directed by Peyton Reed and is scheduled for release on July 17, 2015.
