Elizabeth Banks is Directing Pitch Perfect 2!

January 27, 2014

Fans of 2012's sleeper comedy hit Pitch Perfect should be doubly excited by today's news (via The Hollywood Reporter) that not only is the sequel moving forward, but that the first film's producer and star Elizabeth Banks is going to use Pitch Perfect 2 to mark her debut as a director!

Likely to feature the return of Anna Kendrick's Becca and Rebel Wilson's Fat Amy (with more returning cast expected to be confirmed soon), Pitch Perfect 2 will continue to explore the comedic, musical world of competitive a cappella groups.

Pitch Perfect 2 will be scripted by Kay Cannon, who also wrote the original. She and Banks will also produce alongside Paul Brooks, Jeff Levine and Max Handelman with Scott Niemeyer executive producing.

Banks next lends her voice to Phil Lord and Chris Miller's The LEGO Movie and takes center stage in the April 25 comedy Walk of Shame. She'll also return to the dystopic world of Panem later this year, reprising her role as Effie Trinket in director Francis Lawrence's The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1.
