Lynda Carter on Gal Gadot Playing Wonder Woman

One of the biggest announcements of the year happened in December when Gal Gadot was cast as Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder's upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie. Now Lynda Carter, who played Wonder Woman on TV from 1975 to 1979, was asked by Metro what she thought about the casting.

First up, she talked about the enduring appeal of Wonder Woman: "There's an identification factor. She's not your average superhero. It's not so much about her super powers as it is about her ethic. I always thought of her as a figure who stands for what's right. We all know what's wrong with the world today, so maybe we need her right now."

Asked if it would be strange seeing someone else player her, she added: "I don't think so. It was a long time ago. I care more about the character continuing than holding on to my piece of it. I hope she has fun with it."

And what about the fact that Wonder Woman will be in a film that already has Batman and Superman? "And maybe that's better. She won't have to carry the whole film. It takes the pressure off. I wish her well. I'm just glad she's going to be out there again. Maybe she'll get her own show again."

You can check out more of the interview here. Batman vs. Superman will feature the return of Henry Cavill as Superman, facing off against Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Also starring Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne, Batman vs. Superman hits theaters on July 17, 2015.
