CS Explores Disneyland's Thor: The Dark World Attraction, Treasures of Asgard
October 25, 2013
Disneyland opened its doors today for a special preview of the brand new, Thor: The Dark World-themed "Treasures of Asgard" attraction and ComingSoon.net/SuperHeroHype was on hand to take an early peek at the fantastic artifacts contained within. Check out our slideshow at the bottom of the page!
Located right next to Stark Industries' Iron Man tech display inside Tomorrowland's Innoventions building, "Treasures of Asgard" came about, creative entertainment producer Jennifer MaGill explains, thanks to the tireless efforts of Jane Foster (They don't drop character inside the exhibit).
"Very interestingly enough," MaGill says, "Jane Foster came to us when she was doing her research and pinpointed that the Bifrost's next opening would be here, ironically, at Disneyland. When we found that out, we thought it was the perfect chance to bring our guests the experience to visit Asgard."
After visitors enter the exhibit, they are treated to a variety of displays featuring Asgardian relics. Then, as the lights go down, the voice of Odin can be heard, explaining that the Bifrost is being activated and that the entire room is about to be transported to Asgard. When the doors open again, they reveal an immense golden throne room and, with it, Thor himself, brandishing Mjolnir.
Delighted to have visitors, Thor charismatically answers visitor questions in character and is more than happy to pose for pictures. He also offers anyone who wants to try a chance to lift his hammer but, thanks to some imagineering magic, it's a lot harder than he makes it look.
"Treasures of Asgard" opens to the public on November 1 and is planned to run at least through the end of the year. That is, Magill claims, at least as long as they expect the Bifrost connection to remain open.
