The City of Savannah Film Office announced today that the new SpongeBob SquarePants Movie will film in the Savannah area this September, October and November.

ôSpongeBob is a very successful international franchise and we are very excited to be working with Paramount on this project. This is a good fit for us and them. We know from experience how valuable the investment and exposure generated by a project like this can be for our community," said Jay Self, Film Services Director, City of Savannah.

The series' main cast members, Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Rodger Bumpass, Clancy Brown, and Carolyn Lawrence, are set to reprise their roles. The previous 2004 film, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, also starred the voices of Scarlett Johansson, Alec Baldwin, Jeffrey Tambor and David Hasselhoff.

The "SpongeBob SquarePants" television series is currently in its ninth season, though no new episodes have aired since May.
