The Weinstein Company and its spinoff RADiUS-TWC have been very busy scooping things up at the Cannes Film Festival and their latest acquisitions are two Keanu Reeves showcase films, as The Weinstein Company bought the rights to the long-in-development sci-fi film Passengers, co-starring Reese Witherspoon, while RADiUS-TWC will distribute Keanu's directorial debut, the martial arts flick, The Man of Tai Chi.

Written by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus), Passengers has been a long-time passion project for Reeves that was offered for pre-sale at Cannes. The plot involves a spacecraft transporting thousands of people to a distant colony planet that has a malfunction in one of its sleep chambers so that one passenger wakes up 90 years before anyone else. Lonely, he decides to wake up another passenger.

While that hasn't started filming yet, Reeves has already finished up his martial arts movie The Man of Tai Chi, which stars Reeves' The Matrix stuntman and trainer Tiger Hu Chen as a martial artist in modern Beijing who uses his Tai Chi skills to help him make money on the underground fight club circuit. Reeves also stars in the film alongside The Raid stars Iko Uwais and Jeremy Marinas.

According to Deadline, RADiUS-TWC plan on releasing The Man of Tai Chi later this year.
