MGM Hopes Next James Bond Movie Will Hit Theaters Within 3 Years

Following the news that Skyfall director Sam Mendes is not returning for the next James Bond movie, comes an update (via Reuters) about the 24th installment.

In a conference call with investors, MGM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gary Barber said that they "are very excited about the franchise, we look forward to announcing a director soon. We are currently developing the screenplay and working with our partners. We look forward to developing the script soon and signing a director. We are hoping within the next 3 years it will be released."

Skyfall earned an impressive $1.108 billion at the worldwide box office, of which $304.4 million came from domestic theaters and $804 million from overseas.

The upcoming 24th James Bond movie will be Daniel Craig's fourth movie as 007.
