The casting rumored for some time, EW reports that Shailene Woodley has been offered the leading role in Josh Boone's The Fault in Our Stars.

The script, by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, made 2012's "Black List" of unproduced screenplays with the following official log line:

Based on the eponymous novel by John Green, a teenage girl, stricken with cancer falls for a boy in her support group and the two form a bond as they deal with their illnesses.

"There were so many amazing auditions for the role of Hazel," Green tweeted in response to the story, "but Shailene's love for the book and her understanding of Hazel blew me away.

Woodley has had a busy production slate as of late. She recently wrapped on Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (wherein she plays Mary Jane Watson) and has just started shooting on Neil Burger's Divergent.
