Released in late January, Paramount Pictures and Qualcomm's interactive Star Trek Into Darkness app has been providing fans with regular "missions" that unlock exclusive content. Today, ComingSoon.net has your chance to rise up in the Starfleet ranks by scanning the below behind-the-scenes image from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.

Don't have the app yet? You can download it for iTunes, the Google store and Amazon Apps by clicking here. After you've finished this mission, you can complete others by scanning images and sound clips and by going to cool locations. While your rank increases (up to Admiral), you'll also have the opportunity to use the app to purchase early tickets, enter sweepstakes and to keep up to date on news regarding the Star Trek universe.

The film itself, starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve and Peter Weller, is directed by J.J. Abrams and hits North American IMAX theaters May 15, going wide on May 17. It will be released a week earlier in the UK on May 9.
