Universal to Adapt Upcoming Fantasy Novel Series From Julie Kagawa

February 8, 2013

Universal Pictures has secured the rights to a still-untitled book series from fantasy author Julie Kagawa. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the books are being eyed as a potential franchise with Chris Morgan producing.

Set in a small coastal town, the story follows supernatural creatures who live among humans in secret. When a number of young strangers arrive from out of town, it is soon revealed that they are from an ancient order of Slayers and that their presence means trouble for the creatures in hiding.

Kagawa, known for book series like "The Iron Fey," "The Blood of Eden" and "Call of the Forgotten" is planning for the new series to run five books with Harlequin TEEN publishing.
