New trailer debuts for drama The Escape, starring Gemma Arterton and Dominic Cooper
Following its screening at the Toronto International Film Festival, a new trailer has premiered for the upcoming drama The Escape, starring Gemma Arterton and Dominic Cooper.
The film follows Tara, a woman who finds herself overworked in her life as a stay-at-home mother and falling out of love with her self-absorbed husband, Mark (Cooper). Choosing to no longer remain unhappy, Tara buys a one-way ticket to Paris in hopes of rediscovering herself and to come to grip with her life and her future. The film has earned very positive reviews from critics following its debut at TIFF, with critics praising the emotional depths of Tara’s journey of self-discovery and singling out Arterton’s lead performance as a major highlight of the movie.
Arterton is well-known for her breakthrough role in the 22nd James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, and the Disney adaptation of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, as well as playing Gretel in the fantasy action horror Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. Cooper has become a fan and critic favorite in recent years with his roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a young Howard Stark and the AMC adaptation of the graphic novel series Preacher, which has a third season set to premiere on June 24.
The film was written and directed by Dominic Savage, who has primarily directed programs in the television field prior to this. Distributed by IFC Films, The Escape is set to hit theaters in a limited release on May 11, as well as on Digital and On Demand platforms.
