Melissa McCarthy’s Life of the Party Trailer is Here!

Melissa McCarthy debuts Life of the Party Trailer on Ellen

Melissa McCarthy debuted the trailer from her new comedy movie, Life of the Party, today on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The movie was inspired by Rodney Dangerfield’s classic comedy, Back to School.

Directed by McCarthy’s husband, Ben Falcone, New Line Cinema’s comedy finds longtime dedicated housewife Deanna (McCarthy) turning regret into re-set by going back to college after her husband suddenly dumps her. Deanna lands in the same class and school as her daughter, Maddie (Molly Gordon), who’s not entirely sold on the idea. Plunging headlong into the campus experience, the increasingly outspoken Deanna–now going by Dee Rock–embraces freedom, fun and frat boys on her own terms, finding her true self in a senior year no one ever expected.

The film also stars Gillian Jacobs (Community), Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids), Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Matt Walsh (Veep), Molly Gordon (Animal Kingdom), with Stephen Root (Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates), and Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook), as well as Jessie Ennis (Better Call Saul), Adria Arjona (True Detective), Debby Ryan (Jessie) and Jimmy O. Yang (Silicon Valley).

McCarthy (Ghostbusters) and Falcone, co-wrote the screenplay for the movie and produced it through their production company, On the Day. Chris Henchy also produced the film, with Toby Emmerich, Richard Brener, Michael Disco, and David Siegel serving as executive producers. The movie will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Life of the Party is slated for release on May 11, 2018.
