CS sits down with Mechanic: Resurrection stars Jason Statham and Jessica Alba
This Friday, Lionsgate’s Summit Premiere is releasing to theaters Mechanic: Resurrection, the sequel to director Simon West’s 2011 action thriller (in turn a remake of the 1972 film starring Charles Bronson) with Jason Statham returning as expert assassin Arthur Bishop. ComingSoon.net had the chance to sit down with Statham and co-star Jessica Alba to talk about the continuing adventures of Bishop and, in the player below, you can watch as Alba tells us about the changes she wanted made to her character before she’d agree to take the role and about filming one of the movie’s underwater sequences. Statham, meanwhile, chats about the differences between The Mechanic as a franchise and some of the other high-profile franchises he’s also involved in, such as The Transporter and Fast and the Furious. What’s more, the action star names a winner when we ask him what would happen if all the badass characters he has played over the years were forced to fight to the death in a Battle Royale scenario. Check it all out at the bottom of this page!
Mechanic: Resurrection begins when the deceitful actions of a cunning but beautiful woman (Alba) force Arthur Bishop (Statham) to return to the life he left behind. Soon, Bishop’s life is once again in danger as he has to complete an impossible list of assassinations of the most dangerous men in the world.
Filmed on location in Bangkok, Thailand, the new Mechanic film is directed by Dennis Gansel (We Are the Night). Statham, Alba and Jones are joined by Tommy Lee Jones and Michelle Yeoh.
Mechanic: Resurrection is scripted by Philip Shelby and Tony Mosher and produced by John Thompson, Robert Earl, David Winkler and William Chartoff.
