CS sits down with the new Ghostbusters cast!

Three decades after the original film became an immediate comedy classic, Sony Pictures is gearing up for this Friday’s release of the Paul Feig-directed Ghostbusters. This time around, the Ghostbusters cast features Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones and ComingSoon.net had to chance to sit down and chat about how they collectively approached the franchise. In addition to chatting about their character work and the film’s intense fan scrutiny, the Ghostbusters cast share a few new secrets about what it took to bring the franchise back to life. Although it has been assumed that the hairstyle of McKinnon’s Jillian Holtzmann was inspired by the look of Egon Spengler on the animated The Real Ghostbusters (including by Egon himself, Maurice LaMarche), McKinnon reveals a very different source for the look!

The new Ghostbusters cast also includes Chris Hemsworth as the team’s new secretary, Andy Garcia as the Mayor of New York City, Neil Casey as the film’s villain, Ronan, and Michael K. Williams and Matt Walsh as Hawkins and Rourke. The film is directed by Paul Feig from a script he co-wrote with Katie Dippold. Catch it in regular and 3D theaters this Friday, July 15.
