Trainspotting 2 Announcement Trailer Takes You Back to 1996

Sony Pictures UK has revealed the international announcement trailer for the long-awaited sequel Trainspotting 2, featuring footage from the 1996 original and confirming to the world that shooting on T2 has indeed begun for a January 27, 2017 release in United Kingdom territories. TriStar Pictures recently announced that is has acquired worldwide rights to Danny Boyle’s much-anticipated sequel. Trainspotting 2 is based on characters created by Irvine Welsh. It will reunite director Danny Boyle with screenwriter John Hodge and all of the principal cast of the 1996 film—Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Ewen Bremner and Robert Carlyle will reprise the iconic roles of Renton, Sick Boy, Spud and Begbie.

Producers on Trainspotting 2 are Andrew Macdonald, Danny Boyle, Christian Colson, and Bernie Bellew through Figment Films, Decibel Films, and Cloud Eight Films. Film4 is also a production entity. The plan is for the film to be released in 2017 to mark the 21st birthday of the original film.
