Zoe Saldana channels musician Nina Simone in the Nina trailer and poster
Zoe Saldana (Star Trek, Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy) was announced in 2012 to play legendary singer/songwriter Nina Simone in the biopic Nina, and it was shown at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2014. Now RLJ Entertainment (via Today) has finally released the trailer, while Entertainment Weekly has dropped the first poster. Check out the Nina trailer below along with the poster in the gallery!
Saldana is joined in the film by David Oyelowo (Selma, Red Tails) as Clifton Henderson, Simone’s manager. Nina also features Mike Epps, Ronald Guttman and Ella Thomas.
Screenwriter Cynthia Mort (The Brave One) both wrote and makes her directorial debut with Nina, which is produced by Mark Burton, Ben Latham Jones, Stuart Parr and Barnaby Thompson.
The biopic of the “High Priestess of Soul” will be released to theaters and on VOD April 22.
