Way back when, Arnold Schwarzenegger was set to star in an remake of Michael Crichton‘s 1973 feature Westworld. Schwarzenegger became governor, the remake was shelved, but then Tarsem Singh was brought in to direct… nothing came of that film, but now it has arrived at HBO with Jonathan Nolan (Interstellar, The Dark Knight) writing and directing (at least the first episode) and today HBO debuted the first trailer.
The series takes place at a technologically advanced amusement park designed for rich vacationers with the goal of satisfying your every dream. Robots staff the park and when a group of vacationers choose a wild west adventure things go haywire and a rogue gunslinging robot begins stalking the guests. The stacked cast includes Ed Harris, James Marsden, Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Anthony Hopkins and Jeffrey Wright.
No word yet on when exactly the show will arrive, “Coming in 2016” is all the trailer gives us, but I have to assume you’re going to be intrigued once you give it a watch. Check it out below.
