First ‘Winter’s Tale’ Trailer and Poster

It’s a good thing I’m not one of those people that makes assumptions based on the signs placed in front of me. Because if I happened to be that kind of person I’d have to say the stealthy nature in which Warner Bros. decided to drop the first trailer and poster for Akiva Goldsman‘s directorial debut, Winter’s Tale, at 8:30 PM ET last night I’d say that’s not a very good sign. Lines such as “I’ve had no memory for as long as I can remember” and the tagline on that poster below aren’t either, but at the same time there’s something interesting about this film’s trailer that has me intrigued, and perhaps that’s because I can’t quite figure it out… always a good thing.

Of course, when I see images such as the one above, which is to say, see, look, symbolism, then I again begin to question what I’m looking at.

Adapted by Goldsman from Mark Helprin‘s novel, the film stars Colin Farrell, Jessica Brown Findlay, Jennifer Connelly, William Hurt, Eva Marie Saint and Russell Crowe, so it clearly has its stars in alignment, but can Goldsman direct? Hell, he wrote the script and even that’s an iffy prospect for the guy that penned Batman & Robin as well as A Beautiful Mind.

Either way, give the trailer a watch and let me know what you think. Winter’s Tale hits theaters on February 14.
