Sony will premiere the first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 at Comic Con this Friday, but until then (and I expect the trailer will be online shortly thereafter) they have released a promo teaser giving you a sneak peek at Jamie Foxx as the film’s villain, Electro.
As I was watching this I couldn’t help but think how interesting it is how pretty much all of these superhero movies depend on the film’s villain and how the villain is consistently the centerpiece of the marketing. Yet, the film is all about destroying said villain. Good beats evil and blah, blah, blah… Bane came close to defeating Batman in The Dark Knight Rises and yet, even then, good wins out. Maybe, one of these days, the villain will win and turn this age-old trend on its head.
Until then, here’s the promo teaser for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which hits theaters May 2, 2014.
