Watch the Trailer for David Chase’s Rock & Roll Driven ‘Not Fade Away’

Paramount has done a great job making sure David Chase‘s Not Fade Away remains in the headlines as it prepares to premiere at the New York Film Festival this Saturday, October 6, long before its December 21 release. Yesterday it was the poster and today it’s the trailer and if this early screening says anything, it’s that the studio has confidence in the picture and hopes to generate some positive buzz. Will the trailer help make its case?

Chase told Rolling Stone, “It’s about anybody who has ever had a dream and about what it takes to actually realize that dream… Rock and roll is at the heart of the movie because for some of the characters, rock music is the gateway to transcendence, but it doesn’t end there.”

The film marks Chase’s feature debut as he’s primarily known for “The Sopranos”. Described as a coming-of-age movie, Not Fade Away is set in New Jersey in 1964 where a group of friends are inspired to form their own rock band fronted by a gifted singer-songwriter (John Magaro). The film masterfully captures the era’s conflicting attitudes and ideologies, all set to a dynamic soundtrack produced by the legendary Steven Van Zandt.

Along with Magaro, the film stars James Gandolfini, Jack Huston, Brad Garrett, Bella Heathcote, Christopher McDonald, Lisa Lampanelli and Will Brill.
