Menacing Trailer for ‘Stoker’ Features Icy Glares and Cruel Intentions

I can’t wait to watch life tear you apart. I didn’t even watch this trailer, only skimmed through it looking for an image to include above and wow is it chockful with frightening imagery and spectacular shots. Of all the icy glares and cruel intentions, I personally love the shot I included above of the blurry, hot pavement in the foreground and the illusion of water surrounding the police officer. Like I said, I didn’t watch the trailer, but damn is it striking.

The film is Stoker and it comes from Oldboy director Park Chan-wook and stars Mia Wasikowska, Matthew Goode, Dermot Mulroney, Jacki Weaver and Nicole Kidman. Here’s the synopsis:

After India’s (Wasikowska’s) father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie (Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother Evelyn (Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.

Fox Searchlight is set to release the film in theaters on March 1, 2013. Give the trailer a watch below and see what you think.
