Watch: ‘Lawless’ Red Band Trailer

After seeing Lawless at Cannes I can’t say I’ve necessarily thought of it all that much since. I really liked Tom Hardy in the role of Forrest Bondurant, the leader of the bootlegging Bondurant brothers that come head-to-head with the new law that’s come strolling into Franklin County, Virginia in 1931. Guy Pearce certainly plays up the villain role and you can see just what I mean written all over his face in this newly released red band trailer for the film, which hits theaters next Friday, August 29.

Co-starring with Hardy and Pearce are Shia LaBeouf and Jason Clarke as the two other Bondurant brothers, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Gary Oldman. The film is directed by John Hillcoat (The Road, The Proposition) and it’s one I would definitely suggest you give a look. Here’s how I summed up my review, which you can read right here:

John Hillcoat’s Lawless has only a couple of minor infractions preventing it from being an out-and-out excellent feature, but that doesn’t stop this brutally violent take on the Prohibition-era moon-shining siblings, the Bondurant brothers, from being endlessly entertaining.

And that about sums it up, violent and entertaining, but it’s missing a little something to push it over the top. Give the trailer a look below and if you want more on the film click here.
